March 2010

First two months of 2010 have been good. We won new clients in all areas and overall team has done very well. We are organizing a large event with HP on "Test Automation" in next few weeks.  Also, we are expanding outside British Columbia. Started working with an interesting company in area of payable automation.

 

 January 2010

New year started well for us at Optimus. We did few POCs for our clients on Test Automation side. We also finished a large Vertica Implementation for a leading Social Games company. Optimus was also proud sponsor of VANQ (www.vanq.org) event in January.

 

December 2009

OptimusTest and OptimusBI are moving at great speed. Team in Vancouver and India are ramping up. Good customer satisfaction. Overall, December is ending as good month. Also exciting partnerships with HP, Microsoft, Vertica and Jaspersoft. 

 

November 2009

Interesting last few weeks. Getting some good traction on Testing, Social Media and Analytics. Clients are looking for innovative ways to measure various business metrics. Area of growth for us.

 

October 2, 2009

October first week was a week of hiring. We hired our Head of India Operations. He is an experienced professional with more than 20 years of experience. We also finalized lease for our new and bigger office. On new business, we signed deal with another customer to build back for a consumer application. 


August 2009

August was a month of  housekeeping  and getting ready for busy season starting September. 
 
We are almost done with our new web site and we would launch the new version in 2 weeks time.  We are using an interesting SAAS model and results are encouraging.
 
We moved to next level of infrastructure using “Cloud Computing”.  We are using “Cloud” to its maximum potential. This model is very different from the one we have used in previous companies. Primary reason is improved telecom infrastructure and reduced costs.
 
We did some significant work around branding and usage of common tools i.e.  GoTo Meeting, Skype etc.
 
We started two new pilot projects.  We added 2 professionals to our team. 
 
To summarize, first few months have been better than planned.  We are humbled by how technology has moved to the next level and how businesses can take advantage of this.  As a result,  business can be started with much lesser capital investment. Also business has become far more global with all possible variants of partnership.
 
From next month, we would move from email update to update on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter. 

 

July 2009

Vancouver witnessed some of the hottest days in last many decades.

 

Our value proposition of ‘Information Optimized’ using a mix of Analytics, IT, Human Intelligence, Global Delivery with Local Presence is gaining strength. Clients like the idea of “an extension of client’s information arm”.

 

We are also putting systems in place as we get ready for growth. We are building a good database of prospective clients, team members and partners. More and more, we are exploring ways to tap the best possible talent by bringing flexibility to individuals in their work – life equation. We are also challenging the idea of traditional office. As Telecom becomes a utility, it is great time to tap best talent from all over the world without everyone working at one physical location.

 

We, as in the past, are very focused on building relationship driven model. If we can build long-term, trust based, deep relationships with customers, partners and team members, rest would follow.

June 2009 

  

June has been a month of delivering projects and exceeding client expectations.

 

We spent significant time meeting clients and also industry leaders. We did a tour of companies in Delhi and Mumbai. It is inspiring to see Telecom Sector growth in India. There are tremendous opportunities to innvovate and build businesses around these telecom companies.

 

We also started "Product Engineering Outsourcing" initiative. With our model of delivering from our offices in Vancouver and New Delhi, gaining popularity, we seem to be poised for growth. We already have few customers in this area.

 

It is great time to build company. There is lot of good talent. Companies areoutsourcing to reduce costs and last but not the least, a lot of talent inside the companies is raring to become an entrepreneur.

 

 

May 2009 

 

It has been busy month. Recession seems to be more for discussions over coffee, rather than having any significant impact on our business.

 

Some of our current assignments include :

 

- We are working with a North American company to provide them with regular information on Telecom markets in Australia, Vietnam and Middle East and very soon expanding to Africa. Real interesting piece of work as we see telecom markets expanding in Middle East and Africa.

 

- We are working with a Japanese company on Telecom Landscape of Indian market. Though, we have deep roots in India, it is always fascinating to do an assignment on India.

 

- We are working with a North American Telecom Logistics Company to track handset pricing forbest selling handsets in USA and Canada on monthly basis. As we know, handsets are priced involving a mix of science and art.

 

-We have recently initiated a study of "Telecom Tariff Pricing". Telecom tariffs worldwide, are going through some siginicant changes due to combination of competition, regulatory forces and last but not the least technology impact.
